GURGAON: The death of a 50-year-old non-resident Indian (NRI) businessman lead to two people getting arrested. Sources say that the NRI businessman was assaulted in Gurgaon’s upmarket DLF phase 2 township who then died of a cardiac arrest.

Adding more to the information, Somou Balaya, the NRI businessman was brutally thrashed by a local resident Manik Khosla and his private guard Pradeep Singh on asking them about the directions. As per the sources, Somou Balaya asked his driver to pick him up in an hour and was indulged in an argument with the two before his driver could show up. The incident happened in P block in DLF Phase 2 on Wednesday.

“During the investigation, it was found that Somou Balaya, who ran an IT company in Texas was assaulted by 46-year-old Pradeep Singh and 26-year-old Manik Khosla after a heated argument over asking for directions. Balaya thought the guard had misguided him,” Gurgaon Police PRO Subhash Bokan said.

Subhash Bokan also said that as soon as the argument between the NRI and the local resident heated up the security guard and Manik Khosla himself thrashed Balaya which made him pass out on the road itself.

“Due to the impact of the assault, Mr. Balaya collapsed on the road. He was taken to a private hospital, but was declared dead on arrival,” the policeman said and also added that forensic reports clarify that Balaya died due to a cardiac arrest.

As per the recent sources, the convicts, Pradeep Singh and Manik Khosla were arrested yesterday regarding the case. And the entire incident has been recorded in CCTV cameras the footage of which is with the police, sources added.

“On the day of crime, Mr Balaya took his teenage son for swimming classes and then decided to take a walk in the township,” the officer added.

Sources further added to the information that Somou Balaya who runs an IT company in Texas was staying in the United States for past 25 years with his wife Geeta and a teenage son and was on his vacations to India.
