26 January of every year marks as the Republic Day of India. In 1950, on this day, the constitution of India came into effect. This day was chosen to be the Republic day because on this day, in 1930, the declaration of Purna Swaraj (Indian Independence) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress.
Every year, on this day, the celebrations are held at the Rajpath, New Delhi which is attended by the President of India. Ceremonious parades take place at the Rajpath depicting the rich cultural heritage of India and its unity in diversity. We get to witness the military strength of India and its achievements in diverse fields.
The Republic Day Parade at Rajpath is organised by the Ministry of Defense. Different regiments of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Airforce march past in their official decorations. Various para-military forces and other civil forces also take part in the parade. Republic day parade Live is telecasted on Television, thus reaching out people around the nation. Every year, since 1950, India hosts a head of State or Government of another country as the State Guest of Honor.
Republic Day Parade Tickets
If you want to watch Republic Day Parade 2019 Live, you can buy the tickets and witness the grand affair with your eyes. There are several ways by which you can get a ticket for Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. The front row passes can be obtained from senior government officials or any VIP in Delhi, in case you know anyone.
Or else, you have to buy the tickets which are available for sale from Jan 7 to Jan 25 every year at the Departmental Sales Counter at several locations. The list is given below:
- Sena Bhawan (Gate 2)
- Jantar Mantar (Main gate)
- Shastri Bhawan (near Gate 3)
- Pragati Maidan (Gate 1)
- North Block Roundabout
- Jamnagar House (opposite India Gate)
- Red Fort (inside August 15 Park and opposite Jian Temple)
- Parliament house Reception Office, special counter of Members of Parliament
The ticket counters are open from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. From Jan 23 to Jan 25, the ticket counters at Shastri Bhavan, Jantar Mantar, Sena Bhawan, and Jamnagar house will remain open till 7:00 PM. You need to present any valid government Id like Aadhar card or Voter ID card in order to purchase the ticket. Only one reserved ticket can be purchased per ID card. Only 2 tickets of Rs 100 can be purchased on one ID proof.
Kindly note that all ticket counters will be closed in the morning on January 23 due to full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade.
The price for reserved seats which are located close to the main stage is Rs 500. However, the price for unreserved seats is Rs 100 and Rs 20. Buying tickets for the Republic Day Parade can be a frustrating process. The reserved seats are limited and the demand is very high. You might face lots of difficulties in getting a reserved seat. Secondly, the unreserved seating is comparatively far from the stage and it is on a first come basis. You will have to reach very early to get a good spot from where you can witness Live Republic Day Parade 2019.
Also, only a certain number of tickets are allocated for sale at each counter per day. So, if you reach out late, there are chances that the tickets are sold out. And even if you reach early, you might have to wait for long because sometimes, the ticket counters don’t receive the tickets until the afternoon. However, the tickets sell up real quick and therefore, people stand in queue from around 8:00 AM.
