Having trouble in changing the address in Aadhar Card? No more. Unique Identification Authority of India will now make it easier to change the address in Aadhaar card. The Aadhaar card contains the 12 digit Unique Identity Number (UID).
According to a report, UIDAI proposed to start a new service from April 1st for the Aadhaar card holders can check their Aadhar card status by Name and also They can update their current address easily even if they do not have the valid proof of residence.
Under this new system, the Aadhaar cardholders can go to UIDAI website and opt for the Aadhaar letter which has a secret PIN.
According to one of the reports, Aadhaar holders who do not have a proof of their residence can submit a request for address verification through Aadhaar letter. Once the letter is received by the cardholder, they can update their address on SSUP or Aadhaar Self-Service Update Portal by using the secret pin.
The address can be updated by Aadhaar Cardholders through online or offline methods. In the offline method, the cardholder will have to visit the Aadhaar enrollment and updation center and carry the original documents with them. The UIDAI website has mentioned 35 documents out of which one of them can be counted as a supporting address proof. Some of the documents mentioned in the website are Voter ID card, Driving Licence, Ration Card, Passport, Post Office account statement/passbook or Bank account statement/passbook.
To change the address of the cardholder through online, it is necessary to visit Aadhaar Self-Service Update Portal (SSUP). As it is OTP authenticated, it is mandatory to have the mobile number registered for the password to login to the account.
After the OTP is authenticated, you can scan and upload any of the documents to change your new address. Select the BPO provider who will select the request. The cardholder then gets an Update Request Number i.e; URN this will let the user track the status of the request that is submitted.
