Sajjan Kumar today was sentenced to life due to his proven involvement in 1984’s riot case by Delhi High court. Delhi High court withdrew the acquittal guaranteed to Sajjan Kumar by a lower court and said:

It is important to assure the victims that despite the challenges truth will prevail.

Mr Kumar has to surrender before the court by December 31. Sajjan Kumar was held guilty of murder and rioting during the clashes that broke out in the country after the death of late Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi in 1984. According to a source, as much as 2,800 Sikhs were killed brutally in the violence.
