Pinkathon, an initiative of United Sisters Foundation, organized by Maximus Mice is held throughout the year in various big cities of India. This year the event is being sponsored by ColorsTV and Bajaj Electronics. The event aims to create awareness about family health and women empowerment. It also aims at increasing awareness about Breast Cancer among women. According to cancer.net, the death toll due to Breast Cancer will touch a massive figure of more than 41,000 people this year. Hence it is very important to raise awareness among women about this disease so that the early symptoms can be recognized and cured in beginning itself. The official website of Pinkathon reads:
The first step in empowerment is taking control of your own health, respecting yourself and understanding and celebrating the value you bring to your family and society. Empowerment is not a gift of society; it is a gift you give yourself.
