Poco F2 Smartphone Teased, To be launched soon by Xiaomi in India
Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is all set to launch the next variant in Poco series, the successor of immensely popular Poco F1 – probably Poco F2. General Manager, C Manmohan, in a tweet on 24th December, teased us with a “surprise” addition to the family of #NewPoco keeping us guessing on details. For the domestic market, an irresistible offer by Xiaomi – ” I have a surprise for all of you,” Manmohan said in his tweet – “A #NewPOCO is coming. Can you guess when?” No other development details like name, date of release in India, price, and specifications were disclosed by Xiaomi.
But, that's not all.
I have a surprise for all of you. A #NewPOCO is coming. Can you guess when? 🍾

As you can see, the teaser from C Manmohan on #NewPOCO does not reveal any date neither details about the smartphone being descendant of Poco F1 or even a new avatar from Xiaomi altogether. But speculations are rife that Poco F2 should be launched as #NewPOCO only. There is some basis to these guesses by industry pundits. When Poco F1 was launched in August 2018, it was Flipkart which had disclosed a possibility of an heir to the latest launch. It had declared the launch date of Poco F2 in Big Billion Sale, a timeline of eight months from the month of October. Keeping this in mind and the high acceptability of Poco F1, Flipkart even launched a buyback guarantee policy giving rise to speculations that another member in family Poco F was soon to be launched. Also, there have been no leaks in media on the design and specifications which suggests a high probability of launch of Poco F2. It is expected that the Indian market along with the European markets will be the first to receive the new variants.
Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, had launched sub-brand Poco in August with Poco F1 being the first entrant. It had come with four discrete variants and powered with an 845 SoC chipset, being a pioneer in implementing LiquidCool technology with a 6.16-inch display. Poco F1 runs on Android Pie with MIUI 10 on top of it. Sub-brand Poco F1 was powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC on LiquidCool technology and a 6.18-inch display to be in competition with OnePlus 6T. The Poco F1 was available in 3 different storage options of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB) in a hybrid SIM slot configuration. On the connectivity front, Poco F1 had 4G+, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board the handset were an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. Besides, smartphone boasts of a 4,000mAh battery that supports 18W charging and Quick Charge 3. Poco F1 was launched at a starting price of Rs. 20,999 but recently cuts have been announced bringing down the cost of the base variant to be as low as Rs 19,999.
