Online support for “Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition” mysteriously disappears from Steam

It seems that Steam has removed the popular fighting game Mortal Kombat Komplete edition from the store at the request of the publisher, Warner Bros. It has taken down servers on all platforms. In other words, Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition is now unavailable for purchase on Steam

Even though Warner Bros. or Steam didn’t provide an official statement, ResetEra members mention that the game can no longer be bought from Steam, and the store page mentions, “at the request of the publisher, Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition is no longer available for sale on Steam.”

As there is no justification provided by Steam or the Warner Bros., the fans of the game are wondering what could be the reason behind the move. Some people believe that it might have something to do with the guest fighter, Freddy Kruger.

The character appeared in A Nightmare on Elm Street and is owned by its creator Wes Craven’s estate. Recently, the rights to the character in the US returned to Wes Craven’s estate and Warner Bros. haven’t made a new agreement with them, yet. So, they cannot use him in the game.

It appears that there were licensing issues in regards to Freddie Krueger. It has left people wondering that Netherrealm Studios/WB Games should’ve at least announced a deadline so that players could have placed an order before Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition(aka MK9) went down.

However, this is just a theory as Steam has removed the game from its store, not only in the US but all over the world. If you are looking to buy Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition, then sadly, you are out of luck. However, if you already own the game and were planning to give it another go, then you should be able to play it, says ResetEra.

Warner Bros. announced the Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition(aka MK9) way back in 2012, and the Komplete Edition comes with not only the base game but also includes every DLC released for the game.

These DLCs include the ones released with the NertherRealm reboot and feature new characters such as Rain, Kenshi, and Skarlet, along with the popular “klassic” characters. You also got the klassic skins and an honest-to-goodness code to the Mortal Kombat movie that came out in 1995.
