Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar is no less than a controversy queen. She is known for speaking her mind without any fears of getting judged or being trolled. This time, she allegedly made derogatory remarks on the Indian Army and faced severe backlash. Recently, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev made remark on liberals, saying
“Today, in the world, people who claim to be liberals are actually fanatics.”
This statement kick started a debate on micro-blogging site Twitter and Swara became a part of it. Joining the chain, she said:
“Some assholes with big caste pride, tied men to a jeep, flogged them publicly and recorded it ; #ButLiberalsAreFanatics #SadhguruSays”
People interpreted that her statement was in relation to the incident where a Kashmiri citizen was tied to the jeep by an officer of Indian army (Major Gogoi) after he was attacked by stone pelters. Following this tweet, she faced severe backlash for abusing Major Gogoi and the Indian Army.
However, she later came out to clarify her statement in another Tweet. She said that her tweet was not in reference to Major Gogoi case but to the 2016 UNA case where seven members of a Dalit family were tied to a jeep and then beaten with rods for skinning a dead cow.
However, her official twitter handle with the username @ReallSwara has disappeared from Twitter. And we wonder if she has herself removed her account after the backlash or the Twitter has suspended her account.
