Kangana Ranaut’s latest release Manikarni: The Queen of Jhansi has become the victim of online piracy. The film was released on 25 January 2019. And within a day of its release, the online piracy website Tamil rockers managed to leak the full movie online. The Accidental Prime Minister, Viswasam, Petta are amongst some of the films that have been leaked recently. 2.0, Thugs of Hindostan, Zero were some of the biggest films of 2018 and even they couldn’t save themselves from being a victim of online piracy. Right before the release of 2.0, the Madras High Court directed 37 internet providers across the nation to take precautionary measures. the makers of the film worked out on various permutations and combinations of the URLs through which Tamil rockers could possibly leak the film. Despite so many precautionary measures, Tamil rockers managed to leak the film.

The online leakage of the film severely impacts the collection of films. When the films are available online for free (most of the times in HD quality), people do not want to spend money in multiplexes and instead download and watch at home. Filmmakers and actors always request the viewers not to download from illegal websites.
Downloading copyright content from illegal websites is not safe. These websites often contain harmful virus and trojans that can destroy your device completely. Secondly, it is also an offense as the Ministry of Information Technology keeps a track on every such user who visits such a website. One can get imprisonment for 3 years.
Not only Bollywood films and Indian regional films have been a target of online piracy, but even Hollywood films have not been spared by Tamil rockers. Recently, Aquaman was leaked online by the website in all the languages that it was released in India.
