Sonam Kapoor shared the first motion poster of her upcoming movie The Zoya Factor on her Instagram account. The poster depicts her as the goddess of luck. Sonam very aptly captioned the post saying
“Who needs Nimbu Mirchi, when you have Zoya Solanki! India’s lucky charm is here to turn tables around for you.”
A day before Sonam had announced the poster teaser of the film with the caption, “Ye lucky nahi, khud luck hai! Bringing you India’s lucky charm, shubh ghadi dekhte hi! This is not lucky but luck itself is here! All will be revealed tomorrow! Get ready to meet India’s lucky charm!”
Kapoor is enacting the role of Indian cricket team’s lucky mascot which also stars Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan as the male lead. In the poster, she can be seen wearing blue coloured, zari bordered sari. The sari drape style is similar to what we visualize Indian Goddesses, in conventional Maharashtrian saree, fully loaded with gold jewellery and a garland. There are few striking differences from the traditional outfit. Sonam can be seen donning sports shoes, carrying a bat in one hand and a helmet in another. She is seen standing on a 3 layered podium with a lotus pattern and a halo in the background.
Kapoor’s social media handles got flooded with comments and hearts emojis from her fans who hailed her look in the film and welcomed her with a pinch of humour. #TheZoyaFactor is based on the Anuja Chauhan’s novel by the same name. Sonam enacts the role of an advertising executive Zoya Solanki who turns out to be the lucky charm for the 2011 World Cup Indian cricket team captained by Dulquer. It is a light-hearted romantic drama directed by Abhishek Sharma and produced by Pooja Shetty Deora. It also features Sonam’s uncle, actor Sanjay Kapoor, who plays the role of her father in the film. Angad Bedi has an important role to play in the film.
The Zoya Factor has been postponed quite a few times earlier too. The initial plan was to release on April 5, 2019, and then it got pushed to June and now it is finally releasing on September 20. The delay as communicated officially was due to World Cup schedule.
Speaking about the film, Sonam had told PTI in an interview,
“Everybody thought I should play Zoya, it is a fun part. I wanted to do something light-hearted but everyone wanted me to do drama. After Khubsoorat, I am doing a light-hearted film. Abhishek Sharma (director) is an amazing person. I have started shooting with Dulquer Salmaan.”
