The makers of the upcoming Ajay Devgn movie, Bhuj: The Pride of India, have decided to put the film on an online streaming platform.
Abhishek Dudhaya has directed Bhuj: The Pride of India. The movie features Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, and Sharad Kelkar alongside Ajay Devgn.
Reports suggest that the final shooting phase of Bhuj is still incomplete, and Bhuj cannot be finished at its scheduled time. An important action sequence featuring Ajay Devgn is still to be filmed, but the filming is not possible due to the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown measures. Also heard that the post-production team has been working from home on VFX and special effects through the lockdown to meet the deadline,
The film was originally slated for Independence Day, 14 August 2020, launch. But with the delay in completion, the launch has been pushed by a few months.
The producers of Bhuj: The Pride of India are trying to find possible options to finish the filming process. They believe that during the “unlock” phase when theatres and multiplexes are opened, the audience will be scared and might not turn up in expected numbers, It is anticipated that it would take a while before people start to feel safe again and flock the theaters.
Keeping this scenario in mind, the creators of Bhuj: The Pride of India are contemplating releasing the film on a streaming platform. The delay in completion means that the production costs would increase. A deal with a streaming platform at this stage would bring in extra funds for the completion of the film. It is rumored that the deal of digital global premiere rights might be closed in by Hotstar.
“Though there are a few shooting days left for the film, the makers are very well aware of the post unlock situation wherein theatre-goers might be apprehensive to go in crowded places. Keeping all this in mind, the producers are in talks with Hotstar to get a direct digital release, given that further delay will only add to the production cost. The makers are trying to crack a good deal with the platform. Talks are currently on a primary stage,” as per source!
Similar sentiments have been tweeted by famous film trade analyst, Sumit Kadel.
