Article 15 Review – Successful in treading forgotten grounds!

Article 15-Movie ReviewArticle 15 starring Ayushmann Khurrana released today, and it is receiving rave reviews from critics as well the audience. Article 15 film is base on a murder case where the importance of Article 15 of the Indian Constitution is shown. The movie has its flaws but on average the movie can be given 3.5 stars and is worth spending time.

Crafty Anubhav Sinha has once again proved that mainstream Bollywood cinema can deal with subtle portrayals of the horrors that corrode the country from within. He has been successful in conveying his message through the scintillating performance of protagonists Ayushmann Khurrana and Sayani Gupta. Some sections of the society couldn’t swallow the truth and have sent threats to life, legal notices to Anubhav Sinha after the release of the trailer last month.

The movie, Article 15, shakes its audience to their core, coming up with a concept which is completely opposite to the usual show of chest-thumping and nauseating patriotism of Bollywood cinema. Though one movie cannot change society, but there is hope. It offers a platform for the privileged to brainstorm, and take responsibility towards being change agents of a society which invisible to our eyes.

Article 15 movie revolves around the incident of the village – Lalgaon, Budaun in UP where two girls were brutally raped and found hanging from the tree. Lalgaon is a perfect example of caste-ridden inhuman society messing up with the working system of administration. Police officer Ayan Ranjan (Ayushmann Khurrana) attempts to “un-mess” the caste system, solve the case of rape & murder of two sisters and bring the culprits to books. This is where you are left squirming in your seats when the indifference shown by officials and villagers alike towards the case.

Celebrities and critics alike have posted on social media about the movie! Ayushmann took to Twitter and thanked media for what they wrote about the film. He tweeted, “Overwhelmed by the outpour of appreciation by respected media & film critics.”

Hansal Mehta praised Article 15 and tweeted, “Saw #Article15 again. It is essential viewing both as a fantastic film-making and as an important story of our times. The film is atmospheric, riveting and very well acted. दोबारा बधाई @anubhavsinha @ayushmannk and the entire team.”

Actor Riteish Deshmukh also took to Twitter and wished Article 15 team; he twitted, “Best wishes to the entire talented team of #Article15 If the reviews are to be believed this film is going to blow your mind. Dear friends @anubhavsinha & @ayushmannk many congratulations on your stupendous work. Much love.”

Actress Swara Bhaskar also took to Twitter to praise the film. She wrote, “Stunned, inspired & in a stupor after watching #Article15 It’s the BRAVEST mainstream Hindi film of this decade. Kudos @anubhavsinha sir @sirfgaurav Finally commercial #Bollywood has a defining film on #caste that says it like it is & more!! Kudos also to @ZeeStudios_ for making”
