Trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported that the film has raked Rs 25.25 crore on 1st day at Indian box-office.

The film gave shoulder to shoulder competition to Salman Khan starrer Race 3 that was released in June. Race 3 had earned Rs 29.17 crore on Day 1. However, Gold has crossed Baagi 2 which had raked Rs 25.10 crore on opening day.

Gold faced a clash with John Abrahm starrer Satyamev Jayate which has earned a good Rs 20.52 crore.

Despite being the biggest clash of 2018, both the films are doing exceptionally well in numbers. Satyamev Jayate is the biggest opener of John’s Career.

Talking about Gold, it is the debut film of Mouni Roy and just another hit film of Akshay Kumar after Padman, Airlift, Rustom, etc.

The film beautifully tells about how India won its first Olympic gold in hockey in 1948 as a free nation. It is not just a patriotic film, or a sports film, but also a period drama that takes us back in time when India was suppressed by Britishers. It also shows the brutality of partition in 1947.

Apart from Akshay and Mouni, the film also stars Kunal Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal, and Vineet Kumar Singh. Directed by Reema Kagti, the film is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sindhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment.
