‘The Lighthouse’ to stream on Amazon Prime Video from April 16

Most of us would have started getting sick of self-isolation. I have a recommendation. Why not watch The Lighthouse and then you’ll realize how good it is.

Easily one of the best movies in the genre, Robert Eggers’ latest film, The Lighthouse, is making its way to the popular streaming platform, Prime Videos, in April 2020.

The Lighthouse features Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson in key roles. The story is about two lighthouse keepers who are slowly losing their grips on reality.

THE LIGHTHOUSE will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting April 16

A24 says that the film is “a hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.”

It means that the movie is a must-watch for people who are stuck at home during the Coronavirus outbreak and are unable to perceive what day of the week it is or what to do today.

In a 2019 review, Serena Fischer said that the movie is “a nightmare at the sea”. She compared it to Robert Eggers’ earlier film, The Witch, which, according to Serena, left most of the supernatural elements on the imagination of the viewers.

However, The Lighthouse gives the vibes of gothic-horror along with a sense of cabin fever and loneliness. She compares the atmosphere presented in the movie to that of The Shining, which is one of the most popular movies made by Stanley Kubrick.

“I definitely see it as a really strangely toxic love story”

– Robert Pattinson

One of the movie’s stunning features is its aspect ratio of 1.19:1, which gives the movie more of a claustrophobic appearance. The movie is supposed to come out on Amazon Prime on 16th April 2020
