‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ streaming on Amazon Prime on April 17

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan one of the first in its genre acknowledges LGBTQIA and romance with the basic rule – love has no rules. It takes courage to convey a controversial idea but it has been craftily wrapped as a comedy, a laughter riot.

Ayushman Khurrana’s latest social comedy, Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhan released on 21st February 2020. Recently, Amazon inked a deal to stream the movie exclusively on Prime Videos, starting 17th April 2020.

The movie will only come on the video streaming platform, Amazon Prime Video on April 17, as a part of a deal that ensures that most of the movies are available on Prime Videos after eight weeks from their theatre release. The deal is made between the movie makers and the theatres, which prohibit the movie from being shown anywhere except the theatre for two months since the movie’s release date.

So, Shubh Mangal Zyada Sawdhan, which came out on 21st February, would be available for streaming on Prime Videos starting 17th April as it completes the eight weeks exclusively in theatres as agreed on.

However, the movie might be removed from most of the theatres before that date. So, if you want to watch this epic movie on the big screen, then you don’t have a lot of time on your hand.

There is also a possibility that Prime Videos might shift the release of this movie until 24th April. This change in release might be affected by competition from rival services such as Hotstar and Netflix or due to the presence of higher-priority movies on Amazon’s list.

However, the chances of this happening are pretty slim as most of the movies featuring Ayushmann Khurrana are made available on Prime Videos shortly after the exclusive theatre deal ends.

Shubh Mangal Savdhan is a social drama that focuses on the lives of a homosexual couple in a small town in India. It features Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role alongside Jitendra Kumar with the supporting cast consisting of Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo, and others.

The movie is made on a modest budget of INR 50 crore and managed to make INR 83 crore within one month of its release.

With movies like Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga doing well at the Box office, it appears Bollywood and its audience have started accepted themes based on homosexuality.
