After Ghoomketu, 2 More Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Movies, Bole Chudiyaan & Raat Akeli To Release On OTT

The probability of theaters opening up in the near future looks bleak with the solution to the Coronavirus pandemic crisis that is nowhere in sight. The strict enforcement of lockdowns, theatrical releases don’t seem to be happening in the remainder of 2020.

Movies across the globe which were slated for release in the second quarter have started getting into negotiations with OTT platforms. It is mostly the mid-budget and low-budget films which have taken the route of skipping theatrical release and opting for digital launches.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Ghoomketu has already made its debut today on ZEE5. If speculations are to be believed then two more projects of Siddiqui Bole Chudiyan and Raat Akeli will get a direct-to-web release.

Co-producer of Bole Chudiyan, Rajesh Bhatia had confirmed in an interview with Mid-Day that they are in the process of negotiations with multiple web platforms. To make more productions in future cash flow is needed and with an OTT release they can get a good deal.

“Cinema is a great medium, but, it doesn’t seem like theatres will start functioning within the next six months. We are hence open to the idea of an OTT release. If the film beams to 200 countries, we think that’s a great deal for the right price,” said Rajesh Bhatia

Bole Chudiyan is directed by Shamas Siddiqui and has Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. Kabir Duhan Singh, Rajpal Yadav, and Aditya Srivastava have pivotal roles. Bole Chudiyan is a romantic-social drama produced by Rajesh Bhatia and Kiren Bhatiaa of Woodpecker Movies.

Another Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer budget film which is being rumored to get digital release is a crime-thriller, Raat Akeli Hai. Radhika Apte stars opposite Siddiqui. Directed by Honey Trehan, the main cast is supported by Shivani and Shweta Tripathi in crucial roles.

The star pair of Radhika Apte and Siddiqui have worked together on 3 earlier projects – Maanjhi: The Mountain ManBadlapur, and Sacred Games.
