A new film, Bhonsle, featuring Manoj Bajpayee, is coming to Sony LIV soon. It is the story of a retired police officer, who befriends a girl and her brother during a politician’s attempt to remove migrant workers from Maharastra.
Bhonsle was previewed at the 2018 Busan International Film Festival, the MAMI Film Festival, and 2019’s International Film Festival in Rotterdam. During its preview, Bhonsle got a lot of praise from the audience. The movie also won an award for the best screenplay and the best director at the Asian Film Festival in Barcelona.
After receiving praise at various events, Bhonsle is coming to the streaming platform, Sony LIV, which has undergone a makeover recently. The movie will come out on a Friday as these streaming platforms are sticking to the pattern of releasing movies as followed by movie theatres.
The film features Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role, along with Abhishek Banerjee, Santosh Juvekar, Ipshita Chakraborty Singh, Virat Vaibhav and Neetu Pande in supporting roles.

“Bhonsle’ is a story of a man struggling to navigate a solitary life in self-isolation at a time when Indians persecute people of their own country as ‘migrants’. ‘Bhonsle’ could not have had a more timely digital release. It is a film that hopefully holds up a mirror to the reasons why we have come to become what we have,” in an interview with IANS said, director Devashish Makhija.
Sony LIV has announced that Bhonsle will be available for streaming from 26th June.
